This is only the 2nd release of the Aramis “Black Label” Shiraz, which is sourced from a 60 acre plot of vines in the heart of McLaren Vale. Its deep violet color bears testimony to the wines wonderfully intense bouquet of blackberries, plums and hints of spice. With every sip of this wine you taste delicious sweet dark berry and cherry flavors, and soft tannins that linger long. A wonderfully appealing wine that is full bodied, but with sublime elegance.

Wine Spectator Firm in texture, with distinctly spicy pepper and licorice notes weaving through the blackberry flavors against racy acidity. Finishes with some length. Best from 2009 through 2014. Score: 90. —Harvey Steiman, August 31, 2007.

Wine Enthusiast A lush, superripe wine filled with blackberry fruit that verges on jammy, this picks up touches of vanilla, chocolate and spice that keep it from being a simple fruit bomb. Wine Advocate A new producer for me, Aramis’s 2004 Shiraz Black Label exhibits a dark ruby/purple color as well as a straightforward, but impressively intense bouquet of blackberries, plums, damp earth, and background oak.
