Deep cherry red, with garnet hues at the rim. To the nose, the ripeness of the grapes and the elegance of the wood is evident, with multiple harmonious notes and a complex aroma of black fruit preserves underscored by spicy and mineral hints. A vigorous thoroughbred in the mouth, with lively tannins and good acidity; tasty, ample and long.

The modern-styled, expensive, but terrific 2001 Torre Muga is an unfiltered blend of 75% Tempranillo, 15% Mazuelo, and 10% Graciano. Aged 22 months in large (18,000 liters) American oak vats, followed by 16 months in new French oak, and bottled without filtration, it offers an opaque ruby/purple color in addition to sweet plum, cedar, tobacco, new saddle leather, Allspice, raspberry, and black cherry fruit aromas as well as flavors. It is a wine of admirable intensity, full body, and superb purity, size, potency, and harmony. Give it another 1-3 years of bottle age and consume it over the following 12-15.

Full ruby-red. Deep, smoky, lightly roasted aromas of black plum, minerals and licorice. Full, round and sweet, with highly complex plum, cinnamon and smoky oak flavors perfectly framed by strong but harmonious acidity. Fat, broad and wonderfully deep. Finishes with outstanding palate-saturating persistence and great lingering sweetness. This wine spends nearly two years in large American oak vats, then another 16 months in new French barriques .
